Re-recording of original for Songfight May 2, 2005

I've decided to revisit some of my earlier songs to try to clean them up and build them out. This is a work in progress, and still has some samples from the original - which I'm trying to replace with my own playing.

I like the original, but it's messy as hell. I'm also not keen on building an entire song from someone else's samples. While I liked the piano loop I used in the original, it has a minor chord which really changes the mood of the song. I'm not sure that it's the right choice, so I'll clear my head and see what i think after a few days.

The basic composition is exactly the same as the original - I simply played along with the recording, adding a different bass pattern, the tweaked piano chords, and some brass (I'm going through a phase).

My main concern was to fix the vocals, which were all over the place in the original. I'm not a good singer, so it was a struggle, but at least I'm more on key for this take.

I cranked this out in Garageband in an hour or so after deliberating for days over another version for my third Songfight. Garageband is so easy, it's cheating.
